After moving to Neutral Bay, I am constantly being directed to Anvil Coffee Co. in Kirribilli for buttered Arabian eggs and coffee. So on a beautiful Autumn Saturday I finally set out for lunch at this special place. Anvil Coffee Co. is cosy spot built into Kirribilli Wharf with beautiful panoramic water views across to the city and eastern Sydney.
On arrival we were told that they were taking last orders. All signs pointed towards their Arabian buttered eggs: poached eggs, Greek yoghurt, garlic, chilli & lemon juice burnt butter with mint on gluten free toast. And yes its true, these eggs are a must-try.
Eating out on a Saturday is nearly always delicious but these eggs hit the next level. The combination of butter, chilli and mint was rich and fresh – a melt in your mouth type experience.
There are of course a few more items on their menu. Lots of delicious savoury and sweet combinations on toast. So all you have to do is specify gluten free toast. I feel like the house ricotta, roasted rhubarb, ginger maple syrup on toast is calling my name..for next time. Their coffee and chai are also excellent, perfect for ferry commuters – if only I lived closer.
