Sausages don’t feature regularly on my plate but there is nothing worse than going hungry at a BBQ. BBQs are a family favourite, an easy crowd-pleaser and a go-to meal in summer. I am familiar with the feeling of missing out because of my gluten free diet.

When I was diagnosed with Coeliac disease, all of a sudden I was reading labels and discovering gluten was lurking in sausages, sauces and I said goodbye to the bread roll. Unfortunately, this isn’t common knowledge, so I’m often left empty handed at lunchtime BBQs. At home I can control the gluten situation so I’ve bought new tomato sauce, smoky BBQ sauce for ribs and I’ve been making careful choices when it comes to sausages.

Last weekend I was lucky enough to try this range for Sunday night dinner with the family.

Beak & Sons gluten free Everything seemed pretty standard as I cooked them for 15 minutes on the BBQ  – they looked like normal sausages, but I was totally blown away by their quality (and so were my family).

When I cut through a Tuscan Pork sausage I saw real chunks of fennel. Each variety was flavoursome and moist and these are words you don’t often associate with sausages. Thankfully, their gluten free gourmet range are sold exclusively at Woolworths so you won’t get stuck looking for gluten free BBQ options. Beak & Sons can upgrade your classic sausage on a (gluten free) roll but their gourmet quality will be welcome on any plate. I’ll definitely be spreading the word so I won’t be left empty handed this Summer.

Traditional beef sausages:  100% Australian beef, sautéed onions, ground black pepper and parsley.

Pork sausages: 100% Australian pork with fennel, parsley and parmesan cheese.

Chicken sausages: 100% Australian chicken with mushrooms, garlic and parsley.
